1845 Building in Downtown Asheville Restored

April 1, 2016

The Hands of Sean Perry Co. has completed the renovation of the second and third stories of 37 Biltmore (home to Doc Chey’s restaurant on the ground floor) into three apartments. The three-story building was recently mentioned in a January 13, 2016 column by Asheville Citizen-Times reporter John Boyle as a contender for ‘oldest standing commercial building’ in downtown Asheville. As stated in the article, many assume that status goes to 1 Biltmore Avenue that dates to 1887. Yet, the year 1845 is clearly marked on the front of 37 Biltmore putting it several decades ahead. Regardless, the building will be home to new life, with new residents sure to appreciate the venerable old building, in the weeks to come.
