Strawberry Centennial
This beloved north Asheville bungalow received a radiant refresh to mark its 100th birthday — a thoughtful renovation of the kitchen, bathroom, and hallway that honors the home's original character while bringing it gracefully into the present.

In the kitchen, uncovering the original floors required working through years of accumulated layers — a meticulous process demanding both perseverance from the crew and a leap of faith from the client. That patience paid off with stunning results. Custom cabinetry and design by Benbow and Associates anchored the space, fitting beautiful, precise work around the home’s charmingly unlevel historic floors and ceilings.
In the bathroom, a custom tile flooring design by The Hands of Sean Perry pays homage to styles popular during the home’s early years. Plumbing fixtures from ProSource and a custom medicine cabinet by Raywood Craft Cabinets complete the space. Bringing kaleidoscopic color to the room is William Morris’s iconic “Strawberry Thief” wallpaper — a pattern dating to 1881.
A custom corner built-in integrates into the hallway, crafted to the owner’s specifications and designed to appear as if it has belonged there for the past century.
