Sean realized early in life that he loved the craftsmanship of artisans who came before him, so it is no surprise that restoring and renovating the works of these craftspeople turned into his life’s work. He first developed his talents at a fine furniture restoration company, which led him to start his own business, Saddle Hill Furniture – named after a site on his grandfather’s dairy farm in East Tennessee.
Sean’s deepening interest in working with wood led him to collaborate with his brother on creative projects that included renovating and remodeling homes in Chattanooga, Tennessee. The skills he acquired on these larger projects combined with the fine detail of furniture restoration broadened his construction abilities.
Eventually, Sean’s curious spirit took him out west and to many points in-between and finally landed him in Asheville, North Carolina. In Asheville, he continued to work in the construction field, honing his skills and branching out into new construction. In 1995, Sean’s knowledge base and experience allowed him to reach a place in his career where he began his current business, The Hands of Sean Perry Company.
Sean is determined to exceed his customer’s expectations through the team’s attention to detail in business as well as in the finished product. He also keeps himself and his “Hands” on the leading edge of the remodeling business through a membership in a national remodeling peer group, interacting with top professionals in the industry, and attending regular workshops. Retaining a group of excellent employees is an important priority for Sean and he’s proud of the relationships the team has with each other and the clients. This sets the stage for a close family atmosphere at the Hands of Sean Perry Company.
Sean balances his work with cherished time with his wife, Chris, and their two little girls, Talula and Delphi. He enjoys adventures in the back country of WNC and an unexpected night sleeping under the stars is an extra treat. Nowadays, Sean has tamed his adventurous spirit for the sake of his family, rewarding himself with a bike ride in Bent Creek or a plane ride with a friend. Sean’s current dream is to get his pilot’s license, so he can fly to his heart’s content and take his family with him—that is, if his wife agrees to get on board.
